Searchers look for any trapped by Panhandle storm

BOISE CITY, OK-- The Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management says searchers will be going house-to-house and ranch-to-ranch today looking for anyone trapped by the recent winter storm.

Department spokeswoman Michelann Ooten says there are no reports of deaths or injuries but authorities are getting calls from people who say they've not been able to contact family in the area. She says the Oklahoma National Guard is using military Humvees to look for people in remote areas.

More than a foot of snow fell in Cimarron and parts of Texas counties to force the closing of all major roads while up to 20-thousand Tri-County Electric customers were left without power.

The number without electricity was down to about 35-hundred by this morning.
