Long road leads Miss America back home

TULSA-- It's official,  Miss America Lauren Nelson is back on Sooner soil.   She is in Tulsa right now kicking off her homecoming festivities.

Lauren tells 7 News she has been excited about her first trip home since she was crowned.  She says even though she's going to be busy she is definitely looking forward to finally being able to spend some time with friends and family.

Lauren has spent the last two months traveling all over the country to the tune of 20,000 miles a month.   She has been making appearances and speaking to groups as she did Thursday for the Kiwanis club of Tulsa.

Lauren will be in Tulsa through Friday before she makes her way to Lawton.

If you'd like to be a part of welcoming Lauren home to Lawton there is a free public rally on Saturday.   It will be at Lawton's McMahon memorial auditorium at 1:00 P.M.   Doors open at noon.
