COPY-Soldiers are first from post to deploy as part of troop surge

LAWTON, Okla. Sixty soldiers based at Fort Sill are the first from the base to be deployed to Iraq as part of President Bush's surge of ground troops there.

Members of the Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 214th Fires Brigade will serve as the Force Field Artillery Headquarters for the 3rd Infantry Division in Iraq.

Commander Colonel Gary Agron says units are typically deployed for about a year but will stay until the mission is complete.
