CHATTANOOGA-- It's been five years in the making. Chattanooga has a new fire station for its volunteer force. They played a crucial role in fighting last year's wildfires. The Chattanooga Fire Department use to be connected to Chatty's city hall. But just a few months ago they were able to get the concrete poured, walls up, and lights in their new building.
If you drive down Highway 36 you might miss it. Fire Chief Jack Nicholson says they still need a sign in the front of the fire station. Nicholson say they wouldn't be where they are today without all the support from their community. He also says if you have any extra parts and materials from projects just laying around and want to get rid of them, you might want to contact the Chatty fire house and see if they're interested.
The next opportunity to help the Chatty fire house is their annual fireworks booth. They will be set up and selling a week before July 4th in front of the fire station.
People gathered at Cameron University Friday night for the annual Relay for Life event. 29 teams walked around the track at the Aggie Rec Center tonight in support of those affected by cancer.
