COPY-Elgin man killed following pickup crash

NEAR ELGIN-- The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says a pickup crash in northern Comanche County killed an Elgin man Saturday afternoon. It happened on Highway 277 just west of Elgin.

Troopers say 57-year-old Daniel Combs was driving fast on the two lane road, too fast for the cars in front of him.

"As he approached that traffic from begind, he swerved to go around them losing control of his vehicle," said Trooper Larry King

Combs' pickup slammed into the ditch next to the road. An air-evac helicopter was originally called in, but an ambulance transported him to the hospital in Lawton where he was pronounced dead.
