One dead in gang-related shooting in Wichita Falls

Wichita Falls_Retaliation from a rival gang has led to the shooting death of a young man in Wichita Falls.  Christian Gallegas was at a party early Wednesday morning where was shot several times in the back and neck.  Police say the killing was a reaction to a shooting earlier in the day by members of the PLM gang of Wichita Falls.  Police have arrested Skyler Stevens, 20, who was identified as a known VC gang member.  Stevens has been charged with first-degree murder.

Police also say Gallegas is a member of the PLM gang, but his stepfather disagrees, and says Gallegas was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. "Chris is not gang.  Chris is not PLM," said Ken Rice, Gallegas' stepfather.  "Chris did have some friends that were PLM.  But his core of good friends, they weren't gang bangers.  They weren't gang members."

The police still consider this gang retaliation because Gallegas was part of a search warrant at a house with several PLM gang members present.

Police say this shooting has led to two more gang-related shootings - one at the 1800 block of 11th street, and the other at the 1200 block of 36th street.

If you have any information about either of these shootings, call the Wichita Falls police.
