Teenager arrested in gang-related killing

Lawton--A teenager has been charged with murder in connection with a gang-related shooting on Lawton's south side.

Larry Collins, Junior, 18, of Lawton, was charged Monday with second-degree murder in the June 14th killing of 20-year-old Michael Poe.  Poe was shot to death around 1am in a field near the Sanders Heights Apartments at Southwest 15th and Tennessee Avenue.  Investigators say Poe was shot several times after an argument.

Lawton Police Chief Ronnie Smith says a fight involving Collins on July 6th helped connect him to the murder.  Those involved in the fight, plus witnesses, told police that the fight may have been a carryover from Poe's killing.  Those witnesses told police that Collins had bragged about killing Poe.

Also, according to police records, a witness told police that on the night of the Poe killing, Collins asked for another set of clothes. Then, he took the clothes he was wearing the night of the killing and burned them.

The judge ordered Collins held on $550,000 bond for both the aggravated assault and second-degree murder charge.
