Comanche County_Representatives from FEMA are in Comanche County making sure homeowners and businesses get all the help they need. They're going door-to-door, getting a handle on how many flooding victims need help. Starting Monday, they went to where the most immediate needs are; The Garden Village Addition and to the City of Cache.
If you've had damage from the recent storms and floods, you could be in line for help from the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Garden Village resident Margaret Turnmire was visited after every room in her home was flooded. She says that it was devastation like she has never experienced.
FEMA Relations Specialist, Brenda McDougall, says that it's important to register even though you think you may not qualify for assistance. McDougall says, "If they are not insured, there is a possibility that there is assistance that could help them on the road to recovery."
But, this isn't just a handout. It's some much needed help for those who have no where else to go. That's what McDougall says FEMA is for.
The FEMA team will be in the county for the rest of the week, giving out information flyers and making sure everyone knows how to get the assistance they need. KSWO will keep you posted, and you can count on us to know by mid week where the FEMA assistance center.
