Oklahoma ethanol farm bill to be voted on

Oklahoma_ The House may vote next week on new farm bill that Congressman Frank Lucas helped write.  Lucas wrote portions of the bill which encourage the production and use of alternative energy such as ethanol in rural areas.  The provision proposes payments for "cellulosic'' ethanol which ismade from plants such as switchgrass that grows in Oklahoma.

Members of the House Agriculture Committee have endorsed the provision.  Lucas also included language authorizing a federal study of building an ethanol pipeline system to transport the product from the middle of the country where it's produced to the east and west coasts.
