Seven injured in separate car wrecks just minutes apart

Lawton_A 2-car crash on I-44 Friday afternoon just north of Rogers Lane sent three people to the hospital. The Highway Patrol says the driver of a Ford Taurus heading north on I-44 crossed the median, and hit a pickup heading south. After the crash, the pickup caught fire. The driver was able to get out before being badly burned. The OHP says the driver and passenger in the car that caused the crash are being treated for critical injuries. Investigators still don't know what caused the driver to go into oncoming traffic.

Just a few minutes after the I-44 crash, police say 4 people were taken to the hospital after the driver of a pickup smashed into several cars, and ultimately, two gas pumps at a convenience store at Sheridan and Cache.

Police say it all started when the driver was going south on Sheridan road and lost control. The driver plowed into the median, hit some signs, then some cars. One of those cars was sent sailing into another car. In all, 5 cars were involved.  Police say none of those taken to the hospital had serious injuries.
