Award winning school administrator to motivate new teachers

Lawton_An award-winning school administrator will do his best to motivate the newest teachers of the Lawton Public Schools during an appearance Friday at Central Middle School.

Mark McLeod, a former principal of Collins Middle School in Mississippi, works with school districts across the U.S presenting practical workshops and motivational presentations.  His appearance in Lawton has been arranged by the LPS Professional Development Center.

As a former educator, McLeod understands the issues facing teachers in today's classrooms. During his presentation to new LPS teachers, McLeod will discuss classroom management, effective teaching strategies, team-building, student motivation and teacher quality.

After speaking to the district's newest teachers Friday morning, McLeod will speak to Lawton school administrators during the afternoon.

McLeod has been recognized as one of Mississippi's top school administrators.  He was twice named teacher of the year for the Lumberton School District, was Covington County School Administrator of the Year in 2002 and was Mississippi Administrator of the Year for Region IV. In addition to his work as a school administrator, McLeod also has experience as a middle school and high school mathematics teacher and a coach.
