Aviators honored at deployment ceremony

Ft. Sill_More than 400 soldiers were honored Thursday morning at a deployment ceremony on Fort Sill.  The soldiers of Second Battalion, 238th Aviation and 147th Aviation are providing maintenance and Medivac support in Iraq.

1st Lieutenant Scott Oden says their mission is to help injured soldiers on the battlefield.  "When a soldier goes down on the battlefield," he said,  "It's our responsibility to do whatever means necessary to pick him up off the battlefield and give them the care that they need."

They've been training in Fort Sill for the last three months to do just that.  The soldiers stood in formation on the polo field and promised, together, to never accept defeat, never quit and never leave a fallen comrade behind.
