Lawton lands Delta

Lawton_Delta Airlines is coming to town March 1. Tuesday the Comanche County Industrial Development Authority confirmed they'll provide $500,000 to Delta as a revenue guarantee for their second year of service to Lawton. That means, if we don't fill the seats they offer, we'll still be guaranteeing Delta gets paid, and we'll get service for at least the next two years.

"It's going to provide two flights a day from Lawton to Atlanta, and then from Atlanta into Lawton, on a CRJ-200, which is a 50 seat aircraft," said Lawton Airport Manager Barbara McNally. "It will provide a second hub that we will be feeding into and these are the top airports in the nation as far as size."

Within a week, Delta will send a letter of confirmation of service, which the city will then use to renew the $575,000 grant to pay Delta for their first year of service to Lawton.
