5-year-old left on school bus in Kiefer

Kiefer, Okla. (AP) _ Officials in the Kiefer School District just south of Sapulpa in Creek County say they're investigating after a 5-year-old girl was left on a bus parked in a hot and dark bus barn.

The girl was found by a school principal and a teacher.  The child's mother says she had met the bus at the bus stop Monday afternoon and the driver opened the door for a few seconds then drove away.  Rebecca Baty says bus driver Hayden Howell later told her he didn't see the girl but Baty says her daughter insists she was sitting in the front of the bus.

Baty believes her daughter was alone on the bus for up to half an hour.  Kiefer Superintendent Charles Montalbano says he can't comment until the investigation is complete.
