Oklahoma City (AP) _ Members of a task force examining security on state college campuses says the group is "setting a model'' for other states to follow in ensuring campuses are safe. The task force was created by Governor Henry after a student at Virginia Tech went on a rampage in April and shot and killed 32 students and faculty before killing himself.
It's currently studying ways to notify students and others in case of an emergency, how to respond to an emergency and how to get funding for campus security. The members are also looking into mental health counseling for students and how to make sure laws and campus policies are obeyed. The task force includes university and junior-college presidents and vice presidents plus officials from career tech, state homeland security and mental health agencies.
