September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month and more than 900 men signed up for free prostate cancer screenings Thursday at Comanche County Memorial Hospital in Lawton. Doctor Michener says that approximately 40,000 deaths will be from prostate cancer and about 1 in 12 men will be affected in their lifetime.
Michener recommends men over age fifty get the annual screening which only takes about 15 minutes. He stresses that early detection is the key to cure the disease. More screenings will be available in Southwest Oklahoma communities this month - call 580-250-6565 for more information.
