Armstrong foundation claims pet collars copy livestrong wristband

Austin (AP) _ The Lance Armstrong Foundation says an Oklahoma company is making pet collars that infringe on the foundation's trademark yellow livestrong wristbands.

Tulsa-based animal charity collar group makes pet collars reading barkstrong and purrstrong. A lawsuit filed this week in U.S. District Court seeks to stop the company from using the phrases, the yellow bands and the web site barkstrong.net.

It also seeks unspecified monetary damages, and the cancellation of the company's purrstrong trademark and its pending application for the barkstrong trademark.  The foundation started by seven-time winner of the Tour de France winner, Armstrong has sold more than 70 million of its wristbands to raise money for cancer research and programs for survivors.

Animal Charity Collar Group head Chris Ohman says the glow-in-the-dark pet collars were his company's idea and couldn't be confused with the livestrong bracelets.
