Lawton Sales Tax

Special Election Final Results!

Yes-- 3430

In April when this same question was on the ballot, a total of approximately 3,300 voters turned out to the polls, and it failed by 48 votes.  City leaders pointed to low voter turnout as a primary reason for the defeat, and went to work to get their supporters to the polls.  It worked, as the "yes" vote alone was more than the combined tally in the first election.

The new 3/8th-cent sales tax will collect $28 million dollars over the next 7 1/2 years for federally mandated sewer and water infrastructure upgrades and residential street improvements.
