Capt. Don Haley said Williams has been an avid supporter of the armed forces and longtime USO entertainer. The squadron surprised Williams on Friday with the recognition, which included a ride in one of the 333rd's F-15E Strike Eagles.
"It was the most exciting experience of my life. It was a great honor," Williams said, choking up. "For me, that was a joy ride. For them, that is their office. And when they go up, they are not playing.
"Appreciation is one word that comes to mind. Gratitude is another. It was just great."
After the ceremony, Williams posed for pictures with airmen, spouses and children, shaking hands and thanking them for their service.© 2007 The Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed.
