Childcare Referral and Resource Center opens doors

Lawton_A new resource for children opened its doors October 27th in Lawton.  The Great Plains Childcare Referral and Resource Center has a new home on Gore Blvd.

This child care group teaches parents how to make good, safe decisions when it comes to choosing childcare providers.  Families and even Congressman Tom Cole stopped by for the opening.

Cole says he wanted to show his support and appreciation and most of all get the message out about this helpful group.  "I think they should know we have great people doing great things for young people," he says.  "When you have a challenge or a problem there are people here to help.  There's people here that care just about as much as maybe you do yourself."

Cole says with BRAC and more families moving to the area, he wants people to know this valuable and free resource is available.

According to the Oklahoma Child Care Resource & Referral Association website it is their goal to provide:

"Comprehensive information to families, childcare providers, businesses and other interested citizens and advocates... For family members seeking child care, the site offers an online search tool, as well as detailed contact information for personal help in finding child care that fits their needs through out Oklahoma. It also offers detailed information about types of child care available, how to choose a child care provider, and where eligible families can turn for help in paying for quality child care.

"Current child care providers can find training opportunities, access online technical assistance, read about new policies that govern their operations and link to professional development opportunities and other resources to help them improve their quality of care. For persons interested in becoming child care providers, there is a wealth of information to help them get started."

Please check their website frequently for updated location information.
