First annual Holiday in the Park

Lawton_The lights are strung the displays set up.  Lawton's Holiday in the Park is finally ready.  It was a big move from Gore Boulevard and had some major setbacks.  But, now the holiday festival has settled in at its new home - Elmer Thomas Park.

Workers were busy Friday adding the final touches to make sure everything is ready for the big event.  Although the cold wind was blowing, they were able to stay warm by staying moving preparing everything for the lighting ceremony in the first annual event.  Holiday in the Park Chairman Jay Burk says it's been a lot of work.  "But, I think everybody's really excited to see this finally come together," he says.

Over forty displays have been put up to show Lawton's Christmas spirit.  Burk says the park is a great location for a Christmas Attraction.  "Just to see the people out here again, just like they were on the Boulevard," he says.  "People able to come out and enjoy it with their families and have hot chocolate and things like that - just have a good family time and get ready for the holiday season."

They did have their setbacks, though - like the Santa House being burned down.  Now, it's being rebuilt and it's bigger and better than before.  Burk says it should be finished in about two weeks.

Come one and all to enjoy the lighting ceremony for Holiday in the Park.  See you at 6!
