Pedestrians hit; driver takes off

LAWTON-- Police say a woman intentionally drove her car over three people early Saturday morning in Lawton. We now know one of the victims had her finger cut off.

Police say it happened around 2 a.m. Saturday in the 2500 block of Fort Sill Boulevard. Officers say 45-year old Julia Rivera got into an argument with a woman, drove over her with her car, and severed one of her fingers. Police say two people tried to stop Rivera from leaving and she dragged them with the car.

Investigators later tracked Rivera to a west Lawton home and arrested her for assault with a dangerous weapon and leaving the scene of an accident.

Several crews responded to a series of fires along Highway 7 near the Comanche/Stephens County line.  Crews still have not determined how they started, but they suspect the fires were ignited by a vehicle that could have been inadvertently dragging a chain, or a trailer that was sending out sparks. Firefighters were able to get it under control and keep it from spreading too far.
