Lawton_The IBC bank at 14th Street and Lee Blvd was robbed at gunpoint just after 10:30 a.m., and two suspects are at large.
Witnesses inside the bank gave different descriptions of the suspected robbers. Police are still attempting to obtain a definitive and accurate description of the two. Police say the suspects walked in the door, robbed the teller at gunpoint, and escaped on foot, heading west.
Police say witnesses tell them one of the two hooded men, was armed and even went so far as to walk behind the counter to get the money himself. Lawton Police Captain Will Hines said they escaped with an undisclosed amount of money.
Police K-9s were able to detect a scent on the premises, but lost it in a nearby neighborhood where there is a lot of foot traffic.
The robbery affected three nearby elementary schools, which went into heightened alert. The kids were not permitted to go outside for recess. Lawton police assure the community no one is, or was, at risk.
