Grass fire breaks out in East Lawton

About ten units from three fire department battled a wildfire that scorched about 100 acres this afternoon in eastern Comanche County. Flowermound and Cox's Store volunteer firefighters plus some from Lawton fought the flames for about 40 minutes to bring it under control.  They protected a shack and a radio tower from the fire, no injuries.  A budding wheat field in the path of the flames helped firefighters in their efforts as it was green and did not provide the fuel the fire needed to continue to burn.

And, a call came in about a wildfire 3 miles west and two miles south of Fort Cobb about 4 this afternoon.  And four fire departments from the Caddo County area responded to battle the blaze.  No word yet on whether any structures are involved in that fire.  It was still blazing after 5 pm.
