Miss Oklahoma USA to compete for the Miss USA crown, tonight in Las Vegas

On the evening of December 2, 2007, in the city of Norman Oklahoma, the audience at the Nancy O'Brian Center for performing arts welcomed Miss Southwest Oklahoma, Lindsey Jo Harrington, as the new Miss Oklahoma USA 2008.

Lindsey Jo, a resident of Stillwater, Oklahoma, is a 21-year-old senior at Oklahoma State University. She is majoring in Communication Sciences and Disorders with a minor in Educational Psychology. Lindsey Jo's future career goal is to earn her master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology, then to be employed in a hospital setting while working with geriatric stroke patients and infants with swallowing difficulties.

Lindsey Jo supports many charities with her time and resources. Some of these charities include, but are not limited to, Coach's vs. Cancer, Breast and Ovarian Cancer Awareness, Operation Smile, Toys for Tots, Seasonal Food Drives, Into the Streets, and OSU's Rock the Vote.

In her free time, Lindsey Jo enjoys hunting, fishing and target shooting. Lindsey Jo also, loves cooking for her closest friends, whether it's a simple meal over a camp fire or a creative dinner party for her girlfriends. She also enjoys working out and participating in spin classes at her local gym.
While competing for the title of Miss Oklahoma USA 2008, Lindsey Jo was asked, "What is the best advice you have ever been given." She replied, "The best advice I have ever been given was from my mother who has always told me to keep a smile on my face because you never know who might be falling in love with it." Lindsey Jo is a very simple person who can relate to anyone and prides herself in being a very self-sufficient, humble young woman who has the ability to make anyone feel as though they are the only person in the room.

Lindsey Jo is the daughter of Dennis and Sherry Harrington from Frederick Oklahoma. She has two older brothers and one older sister: Jeremy Gossett 29, Casey Harrington 29, and Rachel Owens 24, wife to Michael Owens.

Lindsey Jo did not only earn the title of Miss Oklahoma, but she has also worked very hard to earn many academic scholarships, such as: OSU Presidential Freedom Scholarship, President's Leadership Council, Clara Berry Scholarship, and Lawton Community Foundation Scholarship. She was also one of the lucky 250 students out of 80,000 applicants across the United States, to be selected as a Coca-Cola scholar.

Lindsey Jo plans to use the title of Miss Oklahoma USA 2008 to share the importance of building self-confidence in everyday activities and teaching students to believe in themselves so that they may achieve their life goals. She is available for interviews, speaking engagements, emceeing events, autograph signing, or any other hosted event.

She will represent Oklahoma at the 2008 MISS USA Pageant this April 11th in Las Vegas, Nevada.
