Tenth Annual "Rock-N-Rumble"

Altus_Main Street Altus celebrates its Tenth Annual Rock-N-Rumble celebration, and tires, tunes, and tailgate parties kicked it all off on Friday.  Mike Bennett is entering his second generation 1970 Z28 Chevy Camaro into Saturday's car show - and, he's making sure it will be spotless.  "It's just a car that I've fallen in love with and wanted for some time," he said.

Like a lot of car lovers, he wants to show off his ride, and he's excited about this year's Rock-N-Rumble.  "Hearing the exhaust, smelling the fumes, it's just a great opportunity for me," said Bennett.

Main Street Altus was busy all morning on Friday preparing for the annual celebration.  It kicks off with a live music concert, food vendors, and a car cruise.  Main Street President Mike Turner says he expects a huge turnout this year.  "I think it's going to be big - bigger than it's ever been," says Turner.  He says people come to Altus from all over the state to show the cruisers in Saturday's car contest and cruise.  "Best of show gets a thousand dollar prize, with special trophies going to mayor's choice, best interior and best paint."

There will be tailgate parties all up and down Main Street as well, and all proceeds go to the beautification of downtown Altus.  "It's great for the community that will come out in strong numbers like this, you know, just to have some good clean fun," says Turner.

The weekend will be capped off with an open race at the Altus Motor Speedways on Saturday night.
