Lawton_UPDATE_A little three-year-old girl was seriously wounded Saturday afternoon after police say a five-year-old boy accidently shot her with a pistol.
Officers got the call around 1 p.m. at a home in the 1900 block of Oak in Lawton.
Investigators say the boy thought the 45-caliber gun he found was a toy when he pulled the trigger. The bullet hit the girl in the leg, and police say she was flown by helicopter to a hospital in Fort Worth, Texas.
The owner of the gun says she sleeps with the pistol for protection and forgot to return it to its hiding place, which is how the little girl found it. She says the gun fired as the young boy tried to take it away from her.
The little girl is now home from the hospital and is in good condition.
