Services set for former OU great Jack Mildren

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) - Funeral services will be held Tuesday in Norman for former University of Oklahoma quarterback and Oklahoma Lt. Gov. Jack Mildren.

A service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at McFarlin Methodist Church.

The 58-year-old died Thursday after a battle with stomach cancer.

Considered by many to be the greatest quarterback in OU history, Mildren was a ballyhooed recruit out of Cooper High School in Abilene, Texas. He was an All-American in 1971, when OU set NCAA rushing records after switching to the wishbone offense.

After a successful career in the oil business, he was elected lieutenant governor in 1990. At the time of his death, he was executive vice president of Arvest Bank and the co-host of a local sports radio talk show.
