Boat crash leaves Ardmore man dead

MARIETTA, Okla. (AP) - Authorities suspect alcohol was a factor in a deadly boating accident on Lake Murray that killed an Ardmore man.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says 21-year-old Ashley Tolbert of Wilson crashed a speedboat into a rocky peninsula at the lake about 11:45 p.m. Saturday. Tolbert and three occupants were ejected.

The patrol says 32-year-old Billy Miller of Ardmore was pinned beneath the boat. He was transported to a Marietta hospital, where he died.

Tolbert was listed in stable condition at an Ardmore hospital. The two other passengers suffered minor injuries.

OHP Trooper Betsy Randolph says investigators believe Tolbert was drinking, and several open containers of alcohol were discovered in the wreckage.
