Chautauqua studies the 60s

Lawton_Chautauqua has pitched its tents at the Lawton Library Plaza in a "tent revival" celebration of our nation and its rich history.  The event includes workshops and informational discussions with influential characters from the past. 

The focus this year is the turbulent decade of the 1960s.  The event addresses civil rights and the women's rights movement with characters ranging form Malcolm X to George Wallace, Barry Goldwater, and Betty Friedan.

A lot of people are expected turn out this weekend, eager to see history "in the flesh." 

Tune in to 7News at 6 for a special interview with Dr. Gary Gray who will be portraying Barry Goldwater.  "Senator Goldwater" will appear tonight at 7:30 p.m. when he will speak and even answer questions from the crowd.

    Lawton Police officers were able to help the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Police Department capture a man wanted for murder. Zakee Denzel Peterson was wanted for murder, robbery, criminal conspiracy, no license, and simple assault in Philadelphia. The Lawton Police Department’s Gang Unit went arrested Peterson on the warrant without incident.
