UPDATE: Motorcycle crash victims identified

DUNCAN_ A Duncan man is dead and a Duncan woman is in critical condition after a motorcycle accident Saturday afternoon on the Duncan Bypass. Police say Tommy Hammans and Sharon Hammans crashed on their two-person bike while they were going south near Plato Road.

Investigators say a witness told them the motorcycle crossed into the opposite lane of traffic and then went back into the southbound lane. The witness told them she saw the motorcycle suddenly vault across to the opposite side of the road. She says the bike did not appear to be speeding.

"She said there wasn't any other vehicles around and it just appeared," said Duncan Police Master Officer Steve Biffle. She watched them in the rearview mirror, he just shot across the highway and then impacted with the concrete bridge."

Police say the bike slid along the guardrail before sliding down into a ditch and coming to a stop. They say Tommy Hammans was not wearing a helmet, and that head trauma appears to be the cause of death. Sharon Hammans did have on a helmet.
