Stabbing leads to police standoff in Lawton

LAWTON_ A brutal stabbing overnight in Lawton left a man with serious injuries and led to a standoff between police and a Fort Sill soldier. Police say the soldier found the victim with his estranged wife at her home in the 1400 block of NW. 23rd St.

Investigators say the soldier, 24-year-old Christopher Mitchell, began stabbing the victim, leaving him with wounds on several parts of his body including his chest and abdomen. When officers arrived, they say mitchell pointed a gun at them through a window. They surrounded the home and waited about an hour for Mitchell to give up.

He was booked in the city jail for assault with a deadly weapon.
