Falls officials advise caution to citizens in low lying areas

Press Release_UPDATE_Fire Chief Earl Foster, Emergency Management Coordinator Jamie Moore, and City staff have been working throughout Tuesday afternoon monitoring the water levels at several key locations throughout the area. At 4:00 p.m. water levels were falling at Beaver Creek, Tanglewood, and at the Falls.

Officials were watching the area between Loop 11 and the Falls to ensure that the crest of the flood waters has passed.

"Huntington Road and Wellington Lane between Iowa Park Road and Highway 287 have little/or no water remaining on the roads," said Chief Foster, "Residents in that area should be able to return to their homes, however, citizens should strongly consider not re-entering any home that has had water inside the house, until the house has been cleaned and dried."

City Manager Darron Leiker and Mayor Lanham Lyne assured residents that City staff will be monitoring the situation throughout the evening and the Emergency Operation Center will be ready for full operation should additional rain cause problems. Anyone who needs shelter should contact the American Red Cross.
