Gas Price Spike - KSWO, Lawton, OK- Wichita Falls, TX: News, Weather, Sports. ABC, 24/7, Telemundo -

Gas Price Spike

Lawton_As we start the Labor Day holiday weekend, we're dealing with higher prices at the pump.   Many are blaming the spike on Tropical Storm Gustav, as he takes aim at the Gulf Coast.  Some traders speculate there could be a disruption in oil output because of the storm.  If that happens, the government may have to tap into the strategic petroleum reserve.

In Lawton, you can expect to pay $3.57 at most stores.  But, the price varies by a few cents at some locations.  Early Thursday morning, most stores in Lawton were selling gas for about $3.39 to $3.43.  But, again the price went up as the morning went on.

You can check prices for yourself, right here on our web-site.  Just click on the links for Oklahoma and Texas gas prices.

An Oklahoma Forestry Services task force is joining the fight against a wildfire in Kiowa County. It's burning about 17 miles southwest of Quartz Mountain State Park. They're calling it the "Flat Top" fire. The last update shows the fire has consumed about 70 acres. The O.F.S. says the biggest problem is that fire is burning in rough terrain. Local fire departments, including Blair and Martha are among those fighting it.
