Open Enrollment Children's Art Studio Fall 2008 Enrollment: August 27 â€" October 11 Classes: October 11 - November 15 (Lawton, OK) Open enrollment for Children's Art Studio will begin August 27 and run through October 11. This program previously known as the S"chool of the Arts" is in its sixth year. Only the name has changed, it is still the same great program! Classes begin October 11 at the Town Hall/Carnegie Library, 5th & B Avenue located in downtown Lawton and run through November 15. The program is designed for students in grades three through six. Six classes (sessions) meet each Saturday, 9:00 am to noon (light snack provided). Three sessions focus on pottery and three sessions focus on sketching and painting. In addition, students are taught art vocabulary, color theory, and to how to care and clean art supplies. Students are also taught art exhibit etiquette for their own show to be held Tuesday, November 18 from 5-6:30 pm in the McMahon Memorial Auditorium Lobby. Tuition is $30/semester and scholarships are available (limited first come first serve basis). Registration forms will be available online at www.cityof.lawton.ok.us/LAHC or at the Arts & Humanities Division office, 801 NW Ferris, located at the west entrance of McMahon Memorial Auditorium. US Army Soldier Show Details: The cast and crew will emphasize their working motto of entertainment for the Soldier, by the Soldier in a simulated deployed setting to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the modern U.S. Army Soldier Show, which opens at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, August 29 at Sheridan Theater on Fort Sill. Nearly half of the cast and crew already have deployed during the War on Terror, so they know the drill. Just getting an opportunity to perform on a seven-month tour of entertaining Soldiers and military Families will fulfill a lifelong dream for most of them.
