UPDATE: Deadly dispute may have been about Army equipment

Killeen_The dispute that led a Fort Hood soldier to kill his lieutenant and then himself may have been sparked by missing military equipment.

Killeen police said Tuesday that 24-year-old Lt. Robert Bartlett Fletcher of Jensen Beach, Fla., had gone with a staff sergeant to talk to a 22-year-old specialist under their command.  The specialist was set to be discharged soon, and some equipment was missing.

Police called to the scene on Monday saw the specialist shoot Fletcher to death before killing himself. The staff sergeant was not injured.

The identity of the specialist was being withheld until his family could be notified.
