Duncan police continue murder investigation

Duncan_Duncan police are one step closer to discovering who shot and killed 19-year-old Cyrus Holland of Duncan on Wednesday night.  Police say Holland was shot once in the torso at the Douglas Park Pavilion, and rushed to the Duncan hospital where he died shortly after surgery.  Lieutenant Jimmy Williams says the park is usually quiet, and the shooting was an unlikely incident.  "Yesterday we received a call from 911, that a man had called and said his brother had been shot," said Williams.

Yellow tape, heavy patrol, and an empty park, all tell the grim story of Holland's tragic death.  "The victim, Mr. Cyrus Holland, did succumb to his injuries after surgery last night [Wednesday], and our thought and prayers are with the family," said Williams.  Police say Holland's murder was a needless act and they will do whatever they can to bring his murderer to justice.  "At this time we do have persons of interest that we are looking for, and a vehicle," he said.  "We are not ready to release that information quite yet, but we are continuing the investigation and have a lot of leads we following up on."

Duncan police say the shooting appears to have been gang-related, with ties to Lawton.  On Thursday morning, the City of Duncan was being heavily patrolled and will continue to be until the suspect or suspects are caught.
