Comanche County Commissioners back funding for hospice center

Lawton_Comanche County Commissioners will back a funding proposal for a new hospice care center.  On Monday, the commissioners voted unanimously to back $5 million in loans already approved for the new center.

Hospice of Southwest Oklahoma needed the federal backing to get a preferred interest rate on the loans, and already has raised $2 million toward the center which will be built on Lawton's east side.

Usually, hospice sends caregivers into the homes of terminally ill patients to help them and their families with their healthcare needs.  The new center will be an inpatient facility, and allow patients to be cared for on site.  Hospice hopes to begin construction some time this month.
