Holiday in the Park set to begin on Friday

Lawton_The big Lawton event is about 24 hours away!  This year there will be a Holiday Parade, Virginia, and Santa Claus will bring up the rear of about 38 entries.  It will take place in the South part of Elmer Thomas Park and along NW Ferris following the official lighting ceremony at 6 p.m.

Northwest Ferris from 3rd Street to Ft. Sill Boulevard will be closed at 4:30 p.m.  Parking available in the park and on city streets to the south of Ferris.  The Cache Road entrance into the park will remain open until 6 p.m., but then will close.  The staging area will be at McMahan Memorial Auditorium parking lot.

Following the switch-on of the lights at 6 pm, the parade will leave the parking lot, travel east down Ferris.  Enter the park at 3rd Street, go under the arch lights, head into the park and end up in the auditorium parking lot.   Dress for the cold weather.  Bring your own lawn chairs to line the route.

After the parade, you can enjoy refreshments (hot chocolate, too) available for purchase at the Holiday House and walk and look at the light displays.

There also will be restrooms available.

Count on 7News to keep you updated.
