Six injured in Loco oil field explosion

Stephens County_A huge oil field explosion burned six workers on Monday, perhaps critically injuring one.  Just before noon at the Noble Energy site near Loco in Stephens County all work came to an abrupt halt when a spark from equipment flashed and caused an explosion.  The sheriff's department says that employees were removing metal plates from another piece of equipment when it happened.

Officials say that one of the injured workers was a Noble employee, and the other five were contract workers.  Most are being treated at Duncan hospitals, but one person was so severely burned he was flown to an Oklahoma City hospital.

Noble says the company's safety team is on its way from Houston to investigate the incident.  No one was able to confirm whether OSHA was on the scene, but Noble workers say they have shut down all business at the site and are unsure when it will resume.
