COPY-Arctic air blasts into Oklahoma

Associated Press - December 14, 2008 7:15 PM ET

A warm, mild weekend gives way to chilly temperatures today after a cold front barreled into the state and an Arctic air mass settled over the region.

The National Weather Service issued a wind chill advisory through tomorrow morning for the Panhandle and northwest Oklahoma with temperatures expected to dip into the single digits in some parts of the state.

Strong northerly winds spread over northern and western Oklahoma today, which combined with cold air to generate low wind chills.

There is a chance for showers tonight in southeast Oklahoma, with a chance for light freezing rain, sleet and light snow elsewhere. Overnight lows were to range from the single digits in the Panhandle to the upper 30s in far southeast Oklahoma.

A slight chance for light snow will continue tomorrow in the Panhandle, with a chance for showers in southeast Oklahoma. Daytime highs are to range from the mid teens to upper 20s across most of the state, with temperatures in the 30s forecast for southeast parts of the state.

A slight chance for light freezing drizzle or light snow will continue tomorrow night, with lows from the single digits to the mid 20s.
