2007 Bray plane crash cause

Undated_The National Transportation Safety Board has released new information in a plane crash that killed 2 Stephens County men last year near Bray. The NTSB says the probable cause of the crash was the pilot's failure to maintain airspeed while maneuvering. Contributing to the accident was the low altitude for recovery and a gusty tailwind.

The NTSB says the plane, piloted by flight instructor Dallas Alaniz, was flying low over his parents' house when the plane stalled and headed for the ground. As Alaniz was attempting to recover from the dive, the plane hit some trees and went down. Alaniz died at the scene. His friend and student pilot, Kendall Spivey, died from injuries at the hospital.

Investigators did not find any problems with the airplane that would have prevented it from flying properly.
