Ringling police keep jobs

New this morning on 7News, police in Ringling can breathe a sigh of relief.

In a more than three and a half hours meeting, Council members voted against firing the entire department.  That issue topped last night's agenda, something that surprised the town and even its new Police Chief Jeremy Wilson.

"It kind-of warms my heart, shows me that we are doing what we're supposed to do and the people are responding and they are here to support us. In a short period of time the community comes together like that, that's great," Wilson said.

According to Wilson, in the 11 weeks he's been chief, Council members have tried to fire him four times and says he or his officers have done nothing wrong.  He says after a lengthy discussion, they voted once again, not to fire him or his officers.

We'll have more from the Ringling Police Department tonight on 7News.
