Texan bids $4,500 for roller coaster ride

Mason_A Texas man has bid nearly $4,500 for himself and two family members to be among the first to ride a new roller coaster in Ohio.

Allan Hague, 37, of Yantis, Texas, about 80 miles east of Dallas, said he wants to be on the front train when the Diamondback opens April 18 at Kings Island amusement park.

Officials at the park near Cincinnati said the $22 million coaster is 230 feet tall at its highest point, and riders will travel at speeds of more than 90 mph.

Kings Island is auctioning off at least 96 seats for the first ride on the Diamondback. Proceeds of the auction ending April 15 will go to a children's charity.
