LAWTON, OK (RNN Texoma) - People in Lawton’s Ward 7 gathered for a special community meeting on a proposed building project.
A representative from a construction group was on-hand Monday night to talk about a potential new senior residence center. The facility would be built in the OH Arnold Park and would have up to 42 housing units. Monday was the second meeting on the subject.
People who had concerns after last week's meeting were able to get some answers.
“Because this is going to be an addition to this community, we want to have the opportunity to let people know what’s going on, and get their input on whether it’s something they’d like in their neighborhood or not,” said Ward 7 Council Member Onreka Johnson. “We want to make sure before it comes up before council that people have an opportunity to have a voice.”
The proposition will go before City Council at Tuesday night’s meeting, during which they will vote on whether to proceed with the project.
If they choose to continue, the city will then have to gather more information and start forming partnerships relevant to construction.
