GERONIMO, OK (TNN) - A Geronimo woman has pleaded guilty to child neglect after her children were found in filthy and unsafe living conditions.
28-year-old Amanda Harcrow was given a ten-year deferred sentence, meaning she will spend no time behind bars, unless she breaks the law. Then she will serve the duration of her sentence in prison.
Harcrow was arrested and charged for the crime in November of 2017 after officers and DHS workers investigated her home and found it to be nearly hazardous for the children that lived there.
There was garbage in the yard, a rotting porch and two dead dogs in a pool. Inside the home they found uncovered electrical sockets, broken glass and screws sticking up from the floor.
In addition, the family had been living without water or electricity for months at a time. They say Harcrow also regularly sent her kids to school in unwashed clothes and with lice.
