WICHITA FALLS, TX (TNN) - Three men have been charged with drug charges after an informant tipped off investigators with the Wichita County’s District Attorney’s Office Drug Enforcement Division.
According to arrest affidavits, on Friday, January 11, an informant told investigators three men had pooled money together and were in California buying a large amount of marijuana and THC products.
The informant told authorities that one of the suspects was posting on Snapchat periodically with the trio’s location. The informant also said marijuana edibles and boxes of vape cartridges could be seen in the posts.
Law enforcement officials were told the vehicle the suspects were believed to be in and surrounding agencies assisted in keeping an eye out for the car. Around 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, January 13, the vehicle was pulled over at the service station at FM 369 and US 287.
The driver was identified as Anthony Ramos, 19. The front passenger was identified as Ivan Rodriguez, 21. The back passenger was identified as Francisco Lopez, 21. Rodriguez told officers the trio were on their way home from a trip to Las Vegas, Nevada.
When asked if there was anything illegal in the vehicle, Rodriguez “hesitated” and then said “yea, there’s some marijuana in the glove box," according to the arrest affidavit. Following a search of the vehicle, 13 pounds of marijuana was found in different places in the vehicle.
In the trunk, officers found 500 THC vape cartridges and a box with ten small containers with suspected THC wax. All three men were arrested and booked into the Wichita County Jail for various drug related charges.
Ramos and Rodriguez bonded out of jail later the same day they were arrested. Lopez was bonded out on Tuesday.
