Duncan artists get warmed up for Hall of Fame ceremony

Local Duncan Artists get ready for Hall of Fame Ceremony

LAWTON, OK (TNN) -For Laura Leighe, Danielle Flesher Webb and Bill Davis, Duncan is the place they call home. The three of them also realize the support they’ve received from Duncan has helped them throughout their entire careers.

“I mean this town supports me 100 percent. I’m still just like hey I got a big fan base in Duncan Oklahoma, so I don’t even have to worry about comments. But yeah, its really sweet. The town is till SO supportive.” said Laura Leighe

This ceremony offers a unique chance for some of the performers who don’t live in Duncan anymore to come back and reflect on their time growing up and performing there. It also gives the audience a chance to see performers they follow regularly, and for many of them re-connect with these performers who they watched grow up.

“For some place as small as Duncan is, cause it is small to want to encourage and nourish the people that have come from here and tell you you’ve done a good job and they are proud of you in the strides you’ve made in your career as a musician, artist, painter, its pretty cool they want to memorialize that forever.” said Danielle Flesher Webb

Both Laura and Danielle will headline the event on Saturday, but Bill Davis' is a hall of fame inductee. He, along with his Ole' Geezer partner Brother Bob, have experienced the life of musicians for more than 50 years. After traveling across the country playing music, Bill says he loved coming back to Duncan because of the community support people showed to him, and says being Inducted to the Hall of Fame is a truly special moment.

“It means a lot to me especially being my home town and I’m very proud I’m being inducted into the hall of fame.” said Bill Davis

All three performers told me that Duncan Oklahoma is a special place, and they are all honored to be a part of the inaugural Hall of Fame ceremony. Music defines who these artists are, and they all told me it wouldn’t have been possible without the support they’ve received from their home town community.
