FORT SILL, OK (TNN) - We’re covering Fort Sill where the post’s Garrison Commander gave us a preview of how the Trusted Traveler pilot program will work when it starts next month.
The TTP is a six-month trial program that allows a DOD ID card holder to sponsor guests onto Fort Sill.
That means the guests will not have to go to the Visitor Control Center for a gate pass.
“What we’re going to do is we’re going to allow any holder of a DOD ID card age 16 and up to be able to sponsor and escort up to 14 individuals in a single vehicle on to the installation,” said Garrison Commander Col. Don King. “It makes the post more accessible to our soldiers, family members, civilians, and the community of Lawton.”
Fort Sill is one of the last posts in the U.S. to institute some kind of Trusted Traveler program.
