LAWTON, OK (TNN) - Local elementary students got to join forces with professional engineers to test chain reactions as part of a STEM event Monday.
That happened at Pat Henry Elementary for the Garver Firm's 100 year anniversary of being in business.
The company’s Chief Operating Officer says they started 100 years ago and have grown to operate in 11 states across the US, and for their centennial, they want to give back to the people in those areas.
“We hope all the kids at Pat Henry elementary have a wonderful time, and you take something you learned today back with you and it becomes a career for you," said Michael Graves, Chief Operating Officer of Garver.
The event today was the first of 100 to receive a STEM kit and a donation from Garver.
The company’s COO says he hopes to be able to get STEM to more students to offset a national shortage of engineering scientists and technologists.
